First-of-its-Kind Permanent Filter for Stroke Prevention in Atrial Fibrillation

We are committed to developing a new approach to stroke prevention in individuals with abnormal heart rhythm (atrial fibrillation). A stroke typically occurs when a blood clot travels through the arteries of the neck (carotid arteries) and reaches the brain. Our device, Vine™, is a permanent filter implanted in the carotid arteries designed to prevent anterior large vessel occlusion (LVO) strokes from occurring by intercepting such blood clots. Vine™ is implanted through a thin needle in a simple procedure lasting just minutes.

The first-in-human feasibility and safety study (CAPTURE) and the safety and performance study (CAPTURE II) have been completed. Long-term follow-up of CAPTURE II remains ongoing. The upcoming randomized control trial, INTERCEPT, will evaluate Vine™ in individuals with atrial fibrillation and a recent ischemic stroke (within the past year). This global study will soon commence across North and South America, Europe, and Australia.
